“Quote of the day” Episode I: Charlie Brooker’s take on Apple Fanbois

Korneel De Feyter op October 24th 2009, 10u 06

I don’t like Apple products. And the better-designed and more ubiquitous they become, the more I dislike them. I blame the customers. Awful people. Awful. Stop showing me your iPhone. Stop stroking your Macbook. Stop telling me to get one.

Seriously, stop it. I don’t care if Mac stuff is better. I don’t care if Mac stuff is cool.

Of course, it’s safe to assume Mac products are indeed as brilliant as their owners make out. Why else would they spend so much time trying to convert non-believers? They’re not getting paid. They simply want to spread their happiness, like religious crusaders.

I agree with Charlie Brooker his view on Apple fanbois and their need to show the world they own an Apple-product. Their stubbornness and belief it’s their faith to convince everybody to live the Apple-life is something that bothers me much. On every article written or video posted about Windows or Zune you’ll find a Mac evangelist – to use Brooker’s words – saying Apple products are superior and “Windows stinks” or something like that.
It their Apple products are so superior as they are trying to convince us about, why don’t they just spend some more time with their iGadgets and leave their irrelevant comments for themselves?

HFE’s language is English from now on

Korneel De Feyter op October 20th 2009, 17u 45

As we want to reach as many European Zune users as possible, we’ve decided to change the blog’s language to English. All newly made post are going to be written in English.

We’re also searching for a volunteer who’d like to join our blog crew.
- Who’s interested to write about Zune and (zune-related) tech news
- You should live in Europe and should have good writing skills (in English, of course)
- Experience is not necessary
- You want to be part of a new website and think along about its future. You want to cooperate in building a new community.

The only thing we expect from you is that you’re able to write decent articles about Zune. You’re a volunteer, so you won’t get a compensation (no $£€, sorry ;-) ) for your work. Being a blogger wouldn’t take much of your time, we expect at least one post weekly.

If you’re interested or if you have any questions, e-mail us with “I’m interested + your name” in the subjectline at:
iminterested@hellofromeurope.com

(don’t forget to add a little text about yourself with your name and why you’re interested in doing this).
